409 stainless steel coil is a ferritic stainless steel. Its coil form facilitates continuous processing, cutting, or stamping. Its core properties are low cost, excellent heat resistance, good basic corrosion resistance, and strong machinability.
The corrosion resistance of 409 stainless steel coil stems from its core element, chromium (Cr), which is >= 10%. It also contains a small amount of titanium, which reduces the risk of intergranular corrosion. Its minimal nickel content contributes to its low cost. It offers moderate corrosion resistance in dry, slightly humid, or non-corrosive media. It is resistant to oxidation at high temperatures, exhibiting excellent heat and oxidation resistance.
